The Interfaith Thanksgiving Gathering 2018: Planning has begun!

This fall, we will gather at 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 17 for our annual celebration. This year’s theme is “We are one.” Currently, a planning group is meeting. We are missing representatives from a number of faith communities in Eden Prairie. Is yours one of them? Please join us just to investigate or to jump in at our next meeting, May 3rd at 5:30 at The Power Center, 7117 Washington Road South.

In the past decade, the Southwest Metro of Minneapolis has become increasingly diverse. This has been a source of enormous enrichment as we have learned from each other and grown together. In this age where people who are the “other” are too often misunderstood and even feared, we call upon people of goodwill to build respectful connections between people of faith in our region: To join in an Interfaith Circle of understanding and support.

The ongoing mission of Interfaith Circle is to celebrate the commonality and diversity of our faith traditions and by doing so foster understanding and acceptance.

Interfaith Circle’s programs and activities will increase harmony and understanding in our neighborhoods and towns, and contribute to peace in our state, nation, and world.

We invite you to join us and expand the circle of welcome ever wider. Email interfaithcirclemn@gmail.com to add your name to our list.

The Interfaith Thanksgiving theme of “mosaic” was one of your most memorable. I’m looking forward to this year!

Remembering “Mosaic”

It was an honor to be a part of this important conversation, and a beautiful reminder that at the heart of our faith traditions, we have so much more in common than we realize. As I listened throughout the evening, the common thread that wove itself through our stories and our experiences and our diverse cultural backgrounds and the sacred texts we referenced was this: God’s deepest desire is for us to know that we are loved, and to love one another.
